The war occurred between about 1816 and 1858 which later end in which the United States would later took control of Florida. Spain was unable to defend the area because of the numerous uprisings in the area and in the end, the Spanish goverment agrees to cede Florida to the United States of America. The transfer between the two countries took place in 1821.
