This law has had a wide-achieving sway on the social insurance industry. In contrast with the many government protection laws for different enterprises this law stood out in its enforcement and functions.

It is run and coordinated by the Civil Right office.The criminal penalties for HIPAA violations include minimum fine for willful violations of HIPAA Rules is $50,000. The maximum criminal penalty for a HIPAA violation by an individual is $250,000. Restitution may also need to be paid to the victims.
