What are capital goods and are they included in GDP?

Capital goods are the goods that help in the production of other goods and services, but still they themselves are goods.  Investment by business in a durable good (e.g., equipment) is included in GDP as final demand because it is not "consumed" in a subsequent production process in the same period it was produced
