Rooting reflex make infants instinctively open their mouth every time it touch another object.

Due to lack of brain and physical development, Infants unable to distinguish the the things that are edible and make personal effort to feed themselves.

All they can do is rely on the adults around them to obtain those foods. Because of this, Evolutionary psychologist believe that This reflex exist as as a form of  survival mechanism for the infants to obtain food.
