In 1963, the president of the united States of America, John Kennedy, asked the members of the congress to come up with a comprehensive bill that contains civil rights, and this happened after the murder of Medgar Evers. President Kennedy was murdered in November of that year and when President Lyndon Johnson came into power, he ensured the passage of the bill in 1964.
