This cultures have different views of the role men and women played; for example, in the Yanomamo culture, the woman has much less power than the man whereas in the Semai group there are no differences. A woman in the Yanomamo tribe could very easily be beaten by her husband if, for example, she has not made him a meal when he arrives from hunting.
