History has witnessed many battles and the battle of New Orleans nothing less. The battle was held between the British army with General Edward Pakenham and the Americans under the command of General Andrew Jackson.

The plan of British is to cancel the purchase of New Orleans and the Louisiana from United States. In early December the Lake Borgne was captured when they sent fleet of small gunboats. Just before Christmas the British established a force on Mississippi river by moving towards New Orleans.

However, the battle was all a result of one miscommunication, as the peace treaty was already signed in December of 1814. But the word didn't go out to the battle-ready armies. So the battle took place on January 8 of 1815. It took Americans slightly more than 30 minutes to defeat the Britishers.

The Americans came out as victorious, despite them being outnumbered by a ratio of 2:1 Americans won. The key factor of Americans' victory was the sophisticated earthworks. Jackson position was replaced by eight artillery batteries which was so powerful. General Pakenham was not pleased with his aligned troops and he was shot down by Admiral Cochrane.
