Before writing an answer to this question, it is important to know the meaning of background. Backgrounds are basically the situations or the circumstances existing at a particular time. In our society, people from different backgrounds means, people have different family status, different educational qualification, different family structure, etc.

I belong to a class which has strong educational backgrounds, better quality of life, better living standards and simple yet connected family structures. During my work in a non profit organization, I worked on a project which was the Youth Employment Project, where I was required to get the youth trained, equip them will skills and get them employed in different companies. During my that project, I met many people with different backgrounds. I met people who had no educational background, living miserably, had no connected family structures, low status, etc. I found them different from myself because of our background differences.

But I learnt something very interesting in them, almost all of them were ready to change their lives for good, all of them wanted to get skill education, all of them wanted to rise in their lives, all of them wanted to make their life styles better.

This spark in those people with that background changed my perspective towards them drastically. I had thoughts about them that people with such backgrounds don't want to work, or they are contented with what their fate is, but by working with them, my whole perspective changed.

the old way of life was represented by superstition, an angry god, and absolute submission to authority. the thinkers of the age of reason ushered in a new way of thinking. this new way championed the accomplishments of humankind. individuals did not have to accept despair. science and reason could bring happiness and progress. kings did not rule by divine right. they had an obligation to their subjects. europeans pondered the implications for nearly a century. americans put them into practice first.
