Dating is a social behavior that allows individuals to choose their own marriage partners (the meeting of people as a romantic engagement). This question is about the subject of "teenagers and dating". People became more independent (they moved away from farms). This freed them from parental control which set the stage for dating. Also, free public education provided coeducation which meant men and women spent a good portion of their day with each other (relationships). The emergence of dating started during the Industrial Revolution.
