Within this period of fixed price, if such good or service demand increases in the market, it will result to shortage in supply

Government intervention could also result in disequilibrium. When a government places a ceiling on a price of good or services, the market would not achieve maximum productivity if the quantity that is supplied is not proportional to the quantity in demand.
