What ideas, institutions, and responsibilities shaped new england farm women’s lives?

I believe the answer is:

- Puritans believed that husbands were above their wives according to their biblical interpretation.  

This made women automatically became second rate citizens in their society.

- Courts persecuted more women for fornication

There were double standard between the treatment of cheating spouse at that time. women would be subjected to more public humiliation compared to the men when they are proven guilty for improper fornication.

- Ministers excluded women from religious activities, if they had the time to do it.

Women's time would most likely be spent on wifely duties that required to them, such as taking care of children, making sure that household is operaitng properly, etc.
