Explain why waves break as they reach the shore.

Waves break at the shore because the sand slows it down.

This would be a interesting question. One reason to why the waves would then break down on the shore would be mainly because first, just picture in your mind, the waves would function because the push of water (which would be from the moon) push on the (water) only. Not on the shore. So, when this happens, this would then mean that there would (not) be any waves what so ever on the shore, because the moon was not designed to make the sand and the shore to make or produce waves. This would be why the waves would then break as they reach the shore.
