Professor Flitwick pushed his 1.5 kg Charms textbook against a 5 N/m spring causing it to compress leftwards 1.5 m over a rough spot on the table that has a coefficient of friction of 0.25. He then released the textbook, so it launches 2.7 m across the 0.9 m high table and flies off at 70 degrees to the horizontal. If there is a group of students 0.95 m away from the base of the table, will the textbook land in front of them or will this be slightly embarrassing for Flitwick?

To place a communications satellite into a geosynchronous orbit at an altitude of 22,240 mi above the surface of the earth, the satellite first is released from a space shuttle , which is in a circular orbit at an altitude of 185 mi, and then is propelled by an upper-stage booster to its final altitude. as the satellite passes through a, the booster's motor is fired to insert the satellite into an elliptic transfer orbit. the booster is again fired at b to insert the satellite into a geosynchronous orbit. knowing that the second firing increases the speed of the satellite by 4810ft/s, determine (a.) the speed of the satellite as it approaches b on the elliptic transfer orbit, (b.) the increase in speed resulting from the first firing at a.

Acyclotron is used to produce a beam of high-energy deuterons that then collide with a target to produce radioactive isotopes for a medical procedure. deuterons are nuclei of deuterium, an isotope of hydrogen, consisting of one neutron and one proton, with total mass 3.34×10−27kg. the deuterons exit the cyclotron with a kinetic energy of 6.40 mev .a-what is the speed of the deuterons when they exit? b-if the magnetic field inside the cyclotron is 1.25 t, what is the diameter of the deuterons' largest orbit, just before they exit? c-if the beam current is 350 μa how many deuterons strike the target each second?
