(1) A wooden block with a mass of 700 g is moving east with a constant velocity of 8 m/s when it is struck by a 20 g bullet moving west with a velocity of 625 m/s. The bullet strikes the block and goes through it. If the bullet
emerges from the block with a velocity of 470 m/s west, determine the following:
(i) the displacement of the block from the point of impact and
(ii) the time required for the block to stop after impact.
(All masses are conserved and the coefficient of friction of the wooden block is 0.21)
