Two moving billiard balls, each with a mass of M, undergo an elastic collision. Immediately before the collision, ball A is moving east at 2 m/s and ball B is moving east at 4 m/s. a. In terms of M, what is the total momentum (magnitude and direction) immediately before the collision?

b. The final momentum, M(vA, f + vB, f), must equal the initial momentum. If the final velocity of ball A increases to 4 m/s east because of the collision, what is the final momentum of ball B?

c. For each ball, compare the final momentum of the ball to the initial momentum of the other ball. These results are typical of head-on elastic collisions. What generalization about head-on elastic collisions can you make?

James is trying to prove newton's 2nd law of motion. he tries to move four different objects with different masses, shapes, and sizes from point a to point b. the objects are a toy car, a car, a refrigerator, and a kitchen table. after some experimentation, he finds that force is dependent on the mass of the object, rather than it's size or shape. the object that takes the most force to move is the

Consider a uniformly charged ring in the xy plane, centered at the origin. the ring has radius a and positive charge qdistributed evenly along its circumference. a)what is the direction of the electric field at any point on the z axis? . b)what is the magnitude of the electric field along the positive z axis? use k in your answer, where k=14πϵ0. d)the ball will oscillate along the z axis between z=d and z=−d in simple harmonic motion. what will be the angular frequency ω of these oscillations? use the approximation d≪a to simplify your calculation; that is, assume that d2+a2≈a2. express your answer in terms of given charges, dimensions, and constants
