Flies flap their wings at frequencies much too high for pure muscle action. A hypothesis for how they achieve these high frequencies is that the flapping of their wings is the driven oscillation of a mass-spring system. One way to test this is to trim a fly's wings. If the oscillation of the wings can be modeled as a mass-spring system, how would this change the frequency of the wingbeats?
A. Trimming the wings will reduce their mass and this will decrease the frequency of the wingbeats
B. Trimming the wings will ncrease their mass and this will decrease the frequency of the wingbeats
C. Trimming the wings will educe their mass and this will increase the frequency of the wingbeats.
D. Trimming the wings will ncrease their mass and this will increase the frequency of the wingbeats

The extremely high temperatures needed to trigger nuclear fusion are proposed to be generated by laser irradiating a spherical pellet of deuterium and tritium fuel of diameter 1.8 mm. (a) determine the maximum fuel temperature that can be achieved by irradiating the pellet with 200 lasers, each producing a power of 550 w. the pellet has an absorptivity 0.3 and emissivity 0.8.

Two cannon balls weighing 18 kg and 24 kg are chained together and fired horizontally with a velocity of 165 m/s from the top of a 21-m wall. the chain breaks during the flight of the cannonballs and the 18-kg cannonball strikes the ground at t = 1.5 s, at a distance of 240 m from the foot of the wall, and 7 m to the right of the line of fire. determine the position of the other cannonball at that instant. neglect the resistance of the air.
