A car is traveling on a straight road on from A to D The distance from City A to City D is 60 miles and the cities are evenly placed along the route. There are cell phone towers in each city. Each tower has a range of 10 miles in all directions. 1. Suppose that the car is traveling at 50 mph. What percentage of the time for the trip between cities A and D is spent within range of the station in City A? City B?
2. Suppose that the velocity of the car is given by
r(t)={ 60t tsi where t is measured in hours and rl(t) in mph
120-60t
a) Also suppose that att O the car is at City A. How long does it take the car to make the trip? Show
b) For how long is the car within range of the station in City A? City B? Again, show work work
3. Do you think it is possible to start driving from City A, stop driving at City D, and maintain the same percentage of time within range of each location? If so, draw a graph of the velocity of a car on such a trip and explain. If not, explain why not. 4) Given the velocity of the car as described in Part 2, do you think that you could move the towers to other locations in such a way that the car would spend the same amount of time within range of each tower. Is so, justify your answer and sketch a configuration that would work. If not, explain why not.

Aleaky 10-kg bucket is lifted from the ground to a height of 15 m at a constant speed with a rope that weighs 0.7 kg/m. initially the bucket contains 45 kg of water, but the water leaks at a constant rate and finishes draining just as the bucket reaches the 15-m level. find the work done. (use 9.8 m/s2 for g.) show how to approximate the required work by a riemann sum. (let x be the height in meters above the ground. enter xi* as xi.) lim n β†’ ∞ n (9.8)(45βˆ’3 xi) i = 1 Ξ΄x express the work as an integral. 0 dx evaluate the integral. (round your answer to the nearest integer.) j
