Project: Peer Pressure This assignment is about understanding moral dilemmas and finding solutions to peer pressure. It consists of a series of scenarios in which someone is subjected to peer pressure and must make a moral choice. Your assignment is to answer the following five questions regarding each of the five scenarios. Your answers to each of the questions should be at least one paragraph.

Scenario One: Mario, a high school freshman, is at a school football game on a Friday night with his friends Jay and Tim. Jay shows Mario and Tim a flask filled with whiskey he took from his parents' liquor cabinet. Jay and Tim each take a swig and pass the bottle to Mario, who knows he should not drink and has promised his parents he would not until he was twenty-one. When he declines, Jay and Tim laugh and say that Mario must be a "wuss."

What should Mario do?
If he does what you say he should do, what will the consequences be?
What are the consequences that he avoided by making that choice?
Why do you think Jay and Tim are pressuring Mario to do something they know is wrong?
If Mario caves into peer pressure and drinks, breaking the promise to his parents and doing something he knows is wrong, how do you think that choice will affect his identity?
Scenario Two: Brittany, a high school sophomore, is with her friends Priya and Leah in the local dollar store. Priya and Leah are shoplifting small things like lip gloss and eyeshadow. Brittany has never stolen anything before and does not want to start. Just as she is about to point out that the store has security, and they will likely get caught, Leah stuffs a mascara in Brittany's pocket just as a security guard puts a hand on her shoulder.

What are the consequences she avoided by making that choice?

Scenario Three: Nick, a high school junior, has a secret crush on a classmate. His friend Tyler knows who it is and is dying to tell someone, but Nick has sworn him to secrecy.

What should Tyler do?
If he does what you say he should do, what will likely happen?
What are the consequences he avoided by making that choice?
Is it ever right to tell a secret?
If someone shared one of your secrets with someone, how would you feel?

Is it ever right to cheat? To let someone cheat from your paper?
Have you ever cheated? If yes or no, explain how that has affected the way you think about yourself.
Scenario Five: You and your friends Tyrel and Max played a prank on someone at school, but only Tyrel and Max got caught. Now they have to serve detention for the rest of the school year.

What should you do?
