water mass: 189 g

i followed the procedure (put water in calorimeter > measure temperature; boil some water > insert mass for 1 minute > take mass from boiling plate > insert into calorimeter > put lid on calorimeter and stir until equilibrium temperature is reached > record temperature) and i get different specific heats for each mass, but i have no idea why.

I've had a brief scan of this question."boil SOME water" is it 189g in every case ?If the masses were all of different subtances, with different SHCs, then I'd expect to get different results.The temperature rise data shows some sort of a trend that I'd sort of expect. Increase the mass increases the THERMAL capacity (which is mass times SPECIFIC HEAT CAPACITY). I think I'd expect the temperatures to increase with increasing mass. The results show this roughly, but they are lower than it being simply, using 100g as the base, 200 twice 300 three times etc. I'd need to do some more detailed thinking to go further.Let me know if this helps.
