Nuclear power plants generate electricity by converting nuclear energy to electricity. This is done by splitting
the nuclei of uranium atoms. Uranium is found in rocks
and has to be mined. Nuclear power plants cause little
air pollution and are very efficient in creating electricity.
Radioactive wastes generated by nuclear power plants
have to be stored safely as they may cause damaging
effects to the environment.

Which statement is true regarding nuclear power plants?

•The disposal of radioactive wastes is an intended benefit.

•Uranium mining is an intended benefit.

•Damage caused to the environment is an unintended consequence.

•The creation of large amounts of electricity is an unintended consequence.
