Conservation of Momentum A collision when two objects end up sticking together can be modelled with the
following equation, if momentum is conserved in the accident then.
a) Momentum of two objects before collision = Momentum of two objects after collision
b) OR
M, V, + MY2 = (M, + M2) V3
So, if a truck with a mass of 3000kg is travelling at +35 m/s to the right, and a car
with a mass of 1000kg is travelling to the left at - 35 m/s.
1) What is the velocity (speed and direction) of the vehicles after the collision if they
are stuck together?
2) Based on your answer, explain which vehicle is safer to be in and why?
