Name and Title:
Include your name, instructor's name, date, and name of the lab.
Define the Problem:
In your own words, what is the goal of the engineering lab?
The goal of this engineering lab is to set up trails to safely transport the panda. The more trails you have the more you can learn from and know what not to do. In the real world, we are going to need trails to one day safely transport humans to another spot. Â
Criteria and Limitations:
In this section, please list at least three criteria that must be met by your train design. Also, include any limitations that could prevent it from getting its cargo to the station.
Criteria-
Building a train that has the needed parts so a passenger can ride on is one of the criteria.
Limitations-
There are missing train tracks. This is a limitation because it can restrict the train from getting to its destination.
Criteria-
Another criterion is making the train to the finish point without crashing.
Limitations-
Not using enough parts for a train. This is also a limitation because if you don’t have the major parts the train needs it won’t function right.
Criteria-
One last criterion is transporting the panda (passenger) to the finish point. Trains are used to get passengers or goods to their destination.
Limitations-
Using the parts for what they are meant for. If there is a missing track and you have balloons and don’t use them then this can limit the train from also getting to its destination. Use the parts that are given and for its purpose.
Design Ideas—Pros and Cons:
In this section, describe three design ideas you have for your train. List at least one pro (a positive) and one con (a negative) for each design option.
Description of Train Design
Train One-
My design for train one was to use empty train cars, pandas, cargo boxes, two balloons, two springs, an evaporative cooler, and a steam engine.
Pro
Train One-
The two balloons can be used on the train. Just in case there are missing train tracks the balloons can be used to make the train float. Â
Con
Train One-
If the balloons are deflated or popped the train could crash if the balloons are needed.
Description of Train Design
Train Two
-
My design for train two was to use Empty train cars, pandas, cargo boxes, two balloons, two springs, a steam engine, and a wood-burner heater.
Pro
Train Two
-
The wood burner heater would be good to get to a  destination fast. This happens because the wood burner heater makes more energy which would make the train go 30% faster.
Con
Train Two
-
If there is a problem with the track and the balloons are destroyed there would be no way to stop the train to prevent a collision because you are going 30% faster. Â
Description of Train Design
Train Three-
My third design for my third train was using parts like an empty train car, a panda, a cargo box, two springs, and a steam engine. Â
Pro
Train Three-
This train is simple and doesn’t “cost a lot of money”. It has most major parts and tested on some tracks to be working fine.
Con
Train Three-
Even if there were no problems with the track there could be two tracks together next to each other and one of them needs to intersect. Both of the trains are going at the same speed and one of the trains would need to speed up so they wouldn’t collide. If both trains don’t have something like an evaporative cooler or wood burner there would be no way they could speed up since this design doesn’t have it.
