PLEASE ANSWER: Students will identify that an electromagnet is controlled with an electrical charge from the battery. Students can take this in 2 different, yet correct directions. 1. They can determine that the battery is not functioning, therefore cannot power the motor, or that there is a malfunction within the motor causing the electromagnet to lose strength. If they do not mention either of these, then encourage them to look at the diagrams and think about what could cause the system to not function correctly.

One hazard of space travel is debris left by previous missions. there are several thousand masses large enough to detect by radar orbiting the earth, but there are far greater numbers of very small masses such as flakes of paint. calculate the force exerted by a 0.110 mg chip of paint that strikes a space shuttle window at a relative speed of 5.00 ✕ 103 m/s and sticks, given the collision lasts 6.00 ✕ 10-8 s. such a collision chipped the window of the ill-fated challenger in june 1983, causing $50,000 of damage.

The two metal spheres in the figure are connected by a metal wire with w switch in the middle. initially the switch is open. sphere 1, with the larger radius, i'd given a positive charge. sphere 2, with the smaller radius, is neutral. then the switch is closed. afterward, sphere 1 has charge q1, is at potential v1 and the electric field strength at its surface is e1. the values for sphere 2 are q2, v2, and e2. a. is v1 < ,> , or = to v2? explain. b. is q2 < , > , or = explain? c. is e1 < ,> ,or = to e2? explain?
