Why are elements important

 Scientists believe that about 25 of the known elements are essential to life. Just four of these – carbon, oxygen, hydrogen, and nitrogen– make up about 96% of the human body. Six common elements that are important in living things are  carbon, hydrogen, oxygen, nitrogen, sulfur, and phosphorus. These large molecules  make up the structures of cells and carry out many  many processes essential to life.
