In each of the four scenarios below, a fixed amount of monatomic ideal gas undergoes certain changes to its pressure, volume and temperature. For each scenario, sketch its changes on a P. V graph; keep to scale to help you see the relationships-using as large a scale as possible. (But plan ahead-leave room for all processes on each graph: don't start your graphing until you know all pressure and volume values for that scenario!) In each scenario, label the starting point of the gas as initial pressure P_1 . initial volume V_1. and initial temperature T_i. Then draw a scries of connected curves, each of winch represents the gas undergoing the described change. At the end of each change (i e. at each vertex of your graph), write the value of the temperature of the gas at that point-in terms of T_i. For example, the temperature might be 2T_i or (1/3)T_i, etc a) The volume is doubled at constant pressure, then it is returned isothermally to its original volume, then the pressure is halved, keeping the volume constant. Is the thermal energy change of the gas for this entire three-step process positive, negative, or zero
b) The pressure is tripled at constant volume. then the volume is doubled at constant pressure, then the gas is expanded isothermally to the original pressure. Is the final volume larger or smaller than the initial volume By what factor
c) The gas is expanded isothermally to twice its volume, then compressed adiabatically to its original pressure, then returned to its original volume at constant pressure. Is the final step a compression or an expansion?
d) Isothermal doubling of pressure; isobaric doubling of volume; isochoric doubling of pressure; isothermal doubling of volume isochoric tripling of pressure isobaric halving of volume.(Use the larger grid on the next page or your own sheet of graph paper for this one. In terms of T_i, What is the final temperature
