Since the Moon is gravitational attracted to the Earth, why does it not simply crash into the Earth?

This is a very controversial topic to say the least. But scientifically, it is the mix of velocity and distance that keeps the Moon between fall and escape. If it wasn't for the gravitational pull was not there the moon would basically float off into space. With the moon constantly rotating it keeps it in orbit around Earth, but if it stopped rotating it would fall into Earth. The gravity pulls the Moon around Earth at a distance, but it does not pull (or push) it any closer to Earth.
