Explanation:

As light travels through different materials, it scatters off of the molecules in the material and is slowed down. For some materials such as alcohol, light will slow down more than electrons will. Thus an electron in alcohol can travel faster than light in water. But nothing ever travels faster than light in vacuum/air.

The amount by which light slows in a given material is described by the index of refraction, n. The index of refraction of a material is defined by the speed of light in vacuum c divided by the speed of light through the material v:

n = c/v

the box does not move because you need to use a force greater than 300 n. you are only using 50 n. it needs to at least be 301 n for the box to move because then it is an unbalanced force and it will move the way that the greater force is pushing it. if you use only 300 n it will be a balanced force and will not move because the force you are exerting on the   box is the same as its force.
