often, architects design most of the windows of a house on the north side. how does putting windows on the south side affect the heating and cooling of the house?

North facing windows:

Windows facing north generally loose more energy, but provide indirect day light to interior rooms and are often considered as valuable. Whereas, the windows facing south are high-performance windows and have the ability to gather solar energy and provide more heat gain during summers.

Also, to stay cool in summers, the architects designing southern facing windows believe on the shading property of the windows to keep the house cool.
