Factors that affect the generation of tides on earth are due to the gravitational attraction of both the sun and the moon and the inertia force exerted by the earth along with the rotation of the earth on its axis. As the moon is closer to the earth than the sun when the earth faces the moon and it appears to be closer the tidal bulges are higher and spring tide is produced mostly occurring on new or full moon days forming an angle of 90 degrees. When the sun and moon are in opposite direction he both tidal forces cancel each other and the neap or low tide is formed at the two doffer direction on earth.
