The intrinsic parity of the 5- baryon can in principle be determined from exper- iments where it is captured in hydrogen from an s state (we can assume that the reaction takes place via the strong interaction): e +p+a+a. find the total angular momentum, the total orbital angular momentum and the total spin in the final state for the two different values of the parity of 5. the proton has parity +1, all baryons (p, a, 5-) have spin 1/2. (you can get experimental information about the angular momentum of the a's via asymmetries in the weak decay a +p+7.)
