Consider a nonrelativistic free particle in a cubic container of edge length l and volume v = l^3. the system is in thermal equlibrium at temperature t.
1) show the dispersion (ae) of gas energy is related to the disperesion (ap)2 of gas pressure by (ap) (ae) .
2) from the partition function of the gas, and using the relation obtained from 1), show the dispersion (ap)2 is given by (ap) 2kbt op 3v t
3) find the dispersion (ae) of gas energy in the fixed volume du tds, dv = 0) from the fluctuation dissipation theorem and show the above relation.

The place you get your hair cut has two nearly parallel mirrors 6.00 m apart. as you sit in the chair, your head is 2.00 m from the nearer mirror. looking toward this mirror, you first see your face and then, farther away, the back of your head. (the mirrors need to be slightly nonparallel for you to be able to see the back of your head, but you can treat them as parallel in this problem.) how far away does the back of your head appear to be?
