The speed of a note created by a flute will increase as the speed of sound increases. when a marching band goes outside on a cold day, what would you predict would happen to the note played on a flute?

As we know that the speed of the sound in air is given as

M = molecular mass of air

T = absolute temperature

so from above equation we can say that speed of sound directky depends on the temperature of air

Here if we increase the temperature the speed will increase

While if we decrease the temperature the speed will decrease as it is directly depending on the temperature term

So here on cold day the temperature is less so the speed will decrease here
