Ordered pairs are in the form (x, y), meaning your first number is your x-value and your second number is your y-value.

An ordered-pair solution to the equation y = -5x - 4 would mean that if you plug in the x-value into the variable, x in the equation, you should get your y-value when you solve for the variable y. (You can also plug in the y-value and do it that way, but for this problem, it's easier to plug in the x-value!)

Now you just have to go through your answers and plug them in. The ordered-pair that does not give a correct y-value when the x-value is plugged in is your
A) (10, -52), x = 10, y = -52

Since y = -54 and not -52, the ordered pair (10, -52) is not a solution!

B) (7, -39), x = 7, y = -39

Since y = -39, this ordered pair is a solution.

C) (-7, 31), x = -7, y = 31

Since y = 31, this ordered pair is a solution.

D)  (8, -44), x = 8, y = -44

Since y = -44, this ordered pair is a solution
