Find the perimeter of the rectangle

In order to find the perimeter of a shape, you have to add up all of the sides. In a rectangle, there are 2 pairs of congruent sides.

So, we know that for this rectangle:
P=2(5x-2.25)+2(2.5x+8)

Now, we have to simplify:
P=(10x-4.5)+(5x+16)

Simplify that again, and you get:

Perimeter= 15x+11.5

FInd x
5x - 2.5 = 2.5x + 8
2.5x = 10.5
x = 4.2
Plug in the x value
5(4.2)-2.5 = 18.5
2.5(4.2)+8 = 18.5
18.5+18.5+18.5+18.5 = 74feet

Rounding decimals is very similar to rounding other numbers. if the hundredths and thousandths places of a decimal is forty-nine or less, they are dropped and the tenths place does not change. for example, rounding 0.843 to the nearest tenth would give 0.8. , your welcome !
