I know we should use pemdas, but I'm going to do the 36 - 14, and then work on the left side.

36 - 14 = 22

Now, let us work on the equation.

2 * (12 + 4) - 10 = 22

Let's do the parenthesis first.

12 + 4 ===> 16

Now we have the equation 

2 * 16 - 10 = 22

Multiply 16 by 2.

16 * 2 ===> 32

Almost done, we now have the equation

32 - 10 = 22

Do the subtraction.

32 - 10 ===> 22

22 = 22

Yes, x = 12
