There are four conics in the conics sections- Parabolas, Circles, Ellipses and Hyperbolas. Parabolas are really common in our daily lives. Parabolas can be found in most things we encounter everyday. Parabolas are formed when a football is kicked, a baseball is hit, a basketball hoop is made, dolphins jump and much more. 
Equation:  (x - h)2 = 4p (y - k)
This is relevant because it can help in measuring the area of a court.
