For this case what you should do is evaluate values of x in the function and verify that they meet the result of f (x) shown in the graph.

 notice that
 f (3) = - l3l -2 = -5
 f (-3) = - l-3l -2 = -5
 Both comply with the value of f (x) shown in the third graph from left to right.

Think of it as five or above give it a shove. change the 5 or above to the right to a zero and add one to the number on the left.

-2x + 7 = 7

subtract 7 from both sides.

-2x = 0

divide both sides by -2.

x = 0

the value of x is equal to 0.
