Awalkway forms one diagonal of a square playground. the walkway is 24 m long. how long is a side of the playground?

The diagonal of a square can be obtained by the Pythagorean theorem and is given by:
 Diagonal = root (L ^ 2 + L ^ 2)

 L: Sides of the squares
 Clearing L, we have:
 (Diagonal) ^ 2 = L ^ 2 + L ^ 2
 (Diagonal) ^ 2 = 2L ^ 2
 L ^ 2 = ((Diagonal) ^ 2) / 2
 L = (((Diagonal) ^ 2) / 2) ^ (1/2)
 Substituting
 L = (((24) ^ 2) / 2) ^ (1/2) = 16.97
 
 The side of the playground is 16.97m long

Let smaller number be 2x , then the nest even number will be 2x + 2so   2x + 4(2x + 2) = 582x + 8x + 8 = 5810x = 50x = 5  so the first number is 2*5   = 10 and second one is 12
