What does the e stand for in a calculator

Take a single digit number with a decimal (Two digits total), times ten to the power of whatever. E is used for very large or very small numbers and helps shrink the writing down. Ex. 1E+20 is 1.0 with the decimal moved to the right twenty spaces.
