Start by working inside the parenthesis first, as always.  7 + 3 = 10.  So now we have  4(10)=4×x+4×7.  We will distribute the left side and multiply to get 40.  Now we have 40 = 4 × x + 4 × 7.  Now the order of operations tells us that we have to do multiplication and division first.  We only have multiplication, between the 4 and the x, and the 4 and the 7.  Multiplying we will end up with 40 = 4x + 28.  Now subtract 28 from both sides to get 12 = 4x.  Divide by 4 to get that x = 3.  Choice A from above.
