Help with these problems please!! Text: DeShawn's dog, Almondine, has a growing litter of very cute little puppies. They are getting a little rowdy with each other, so DeShawn thinks it would be a good idea to separate the puppies into two pens. Since he doesn't want them to be too far away from each other, he decides that he will construct the pens so that they are right next to each other and have the same length (y/2) and width (x). He imagines the pens to look like this:

DeShawn has 120 feet of fencing for the pens. He likes his design because putting the two pens together not only lets the pups play safely with each other, but also uses less fencing than if he made both pens separate. Brilliant!

1. Model the relationship between the combined area (A) and the two pens and the width of the pens (x). Show a table, a graph, and an equation as part of your model. (Use the grid provided.)

2. DeShawn would like the pens to have the maximum area that he can get with the fencing that he has. What dimensions (both length and width) produce the pens with the largest area? What is the maximum combined area of the pens? Explain how you got your answer.

3. What type of function is A? Justify your answer.

When constructing a perpendicular line through a point off a line, how can you verify that the lines constructed are perpendicular? check the angles used in the construction with a straightedge to ensure consistency. check the distance along the lines at several places with a compass to ensure they are the same length. check the intersecting lines with the corner of a piece of paper to ensure the lines create 90° angles. check the distance between the lines at several places with a compass to ensure they are equidistant. question 2(multiple choice worth 1 points) (01.03 lc) which of the following steps is included in the construction of a perpendicular line through a point on a line? connect arcs that are above and below the given line with a straightedge. connect arcs that are above the original line with a straightedge. create arcs on either side of a point that is off the given line. create a copied angle by using the first two lines as the original angle.
