3) EXPLAIN: Sams’ claim is incorrect because 23means the number 2 is being multiplied by itself 3 times. I can see how Sams’ claim is incorrect because even though he expanded his work out correctly as (2)(2)(2) it looks like he may have found the sum of the numbers (2)+(2)+(2) = 6 instead of multiplying. Therefore, Sams’ claim is incorrect.

4) CORRECTION: Because 23means that the number 2 is being multiplied by itself 3 times, 23= (2)(2)(2) = 8. EVIDENCE: Example: (2)(2)(2) = 8.
