1) Carl is designing an auditorium. The seating on the first level is in the shape of a trapezoid, with the shortest
base in front of the stage. This customer wants to see several configurations. The first row will have to have 24
seats, and each of the following rows will follow an arithmetic sequence. There need to be between 1000 to
1600 seats.
a) Find at least three different arithmetic sequences that could be used. Make sure to give the sequence, the
number of rows, and the total number of seats.
b) What might make one configuration better than another? What other information would help in choosing the
sequence to use.
