A group of researchers want to examine whether drinking diet coke causes diabetes. They carry out a study by randomly sampling 902 participants. The Researchers randomly assign 442 participants to the "treatment" group which reports drinking 24 or more fl. Oz. of diet coke per day, and an age and gender control group of 460 group of people who report drinking the same amount of regular soda instead. The researchers then examined the proportion of people diagnosed with diabetes. ​
