Drinking tea appears to offer a strong boost to the immune system. In a study of 10 participants, blood samples were taken before and after one week of drinking 5 cups of tea a day (the participants did not drink tea prior to the study) and the levels of interferon gamma were measured, which is a molecule that fights bacteria, viruses, and tumors. The mean production went from 155 pg/mL to 448 pg/mL after drinking tea. The mean difference for the ten subjects is 293 pg/mL (Post-Pre Measurement) with a standard deviation of the differences of 252 pg/mL. Required:
Use the information to test whether mean production of interferon gamma as a response to bacteria is significantly higher after drinking tea than before drinking tea.
