1. A store is offering a sale of 15% off all items. What is the price of a $35 shirt after the discount? Round answers to two decimal places.
2. A customer paid $14.99 for a shirt that normally sells for $24.99. What
percent discount did the customer receive? Round your answer to the nearest
percent.
3. A customer and a sales person are arguing about a promotion and a coupon
applied after the promotional discount. The promotion is a 25% discount on
all items in the store. The coupon is an additional 20% off of the order. The
customer claims the 25% discount should be made before the 20% discount.
The sales person claims it does not matter which order to give the discounts.
Who is correct and why (make sure you prove your claim and include relevant
mathematical calculations - I am a skeptic and will doubt your answer unless
you have enough details to prove your conclusion).

(4 points: 2 points for each side of the equation) isolate the variable. 6. what inverse operation do you need to perform on both sides to isolate x in the equation? (2 points: 1 point for the correct number, 1 point for the correct operation) solve the equation. 7. solve the equation for x. interpret the answer in terms of the problem. (2 points: 1 point for the solution, 1 point for the interpretation) check your solution. 8. to confirm that your answer is correct, add the two days' distances. this should equal the total distance from san jose to los angeles. show your work as an equation.
