You wish to use a long string of random digits to randomly assign one-half of a group of 1000 students to a treatment group. you assign consectutive number labels to all the students , starting with zero. your then break the long string into chunk of digits. should the chunks consist of single digits, pairs, triplets, or quadruplets?
