 Add all used paint per color.
Blue paint used: 1/4 and 5/8, makes up  7/8
Red Paint used: 3/8 and 1/2, makes up 7/8
Yellow paint used: 1/2 and 1/8, makes up 5/8

Subtract each total paint used from 8/8 (8/8 is = to 1, which denotes 1 gallon/paint)
The remaining paint would be:
Blue paint = 1/8
Red Paint=1/8
Yellow paint= 3/8
