We need to solve 4x + 9y = 16 for x
4x = 16 - 9y
Divide both sides by 4
4x/4 = (16-9y)/4
x = -9/4 y + 4
Now substitute -9/4 y + 4 for x in 6x - 9y = 8
6x - 9y = 8
6(-9/4 y + 4) -9y = 8
-45/2 y + 24 = 8
-45/2 y = 8 - 24
-45/2 y = -16
y = -16/-45/2
y = 32/45
Since we have y now, it will be easy to find x
