How could i divide 1.78 divided by 2

In this case, that would be the 9 in 89. If you don't like that answer, then you can always break the number up to 1, .7, and .08 then divide each individual number by two, giving you .5, .35, and .04.   you can change 1.78 to 178 and then just divide 178 by 2= 89 and then you count the number of spaces before the decimal in 1.78 which is two so with 89 you would move the decimal in two spaces to become .89. so overall your equation would be 1.78÷2=.89
